Hello my name is Samuel aafa and now I’m living in Goldie barracks with my father he is a medick we always like to go wash at the Goldie river so good bye.
Hi and good to find out of this page.
I’m very keen if any one of you could send me photos of late Lieutenant Stanley Malt Duma (86445) from the Engineering Battalion, Igam?
He had an Australian fiancé by the name of Katherin. F. Peel. I believe Kathrin is married to an Australian Navy and lives somewhere in Australia. Please If possible, I would like photos of both of them
I am his nephew living in Port Moresby.
Cheers….
hi, my name is Patrick, my father was posted from Taurama Bks to Goldie River training deport in 1969.
my father’s name is CWO Ron Oi-Meve.
I knew Ron. He and another Sergeant went to Sydney for a Training course and my parents took them out on a tour around Sydney.
Just got a letter from Terry Edwinsmith notifying me of this website (thanks Terry). Great to see the photos from 1970! So many memories come back from 69/70… I’ll look through albums to see what I have from the time in PNG. I know I have some photos somewhere of the trek along the Kokoda Trail and building the airstrip at Munari. Also some ‘ancient’ looking PNG postcards I sent mum and she kept.
Hope all are well. I’ve kept in touch with Paul Johnson, from Goldie River) Boyd Robertson (also in Bendigo, from Wewak) and Andrew Remenyi (from Lae).
Cheers, Ray
ps. I’m still teaching; have been at La Trobe University and earlier teacher ed institutions in Bendigo since 1976.
Ray, you did a good job on the air strip at Menari. Seven years ago, it still looked fine.
Hope to see you and other Chalkies at the annual Chalkies Lunch in Brisbane around October 2012.
Thanks also to Bill Bailey who provided the remainder of the names in the staff photo
Great to see a Staff photo with everyone named!
Well done to the Goldie River team, especially Lt Forster.
I hope others will send the Contacts their Staff photos.
