The reunion, held at Port Stephens over the 3 day period 9-11 Oct, 2014, was jointly organised by Rob Duff and Garry Screen. 50 plus people attended from most states of Australia. Various venues were used throughout the Port Stephens area with the major focus being on social activities.
The photos in this gallery reflect these social activities.
Thanks to Boyd Robertson who was the official photographer.
The reunion was a special occasion for the first group of Education Sergeants sent to Moem Barracks in 1966.
The reunion began on Thursday evening at the Soldiers Point Bowling Club with a get to know each other and an evening meal.
For those staying close to Birubi Beach, Rob Duff provided Friday morning breakfast.
Friday lunch was at the Tea Gardens Hotel after a ferry ride from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens which also included dolphin watching.
Although not on the official agenda, everyone was encouraged to visit Gan Gan Lookout to get a panoramic view of Port Stephens.
Friday evening was the focal point of the reunion with an evening meal at the Crest Café, Birubi Beach (part of the Birubi Beach Surf Life Saving Club) following by a social evening in the clubhouse where Rob Duff is the Club Captain.
The Clubhouse is adjacent to the Worimi Sand Dunes that extend almost all the way to Newcastle.
Note the sun setting along the beach which disoriented those of us used to the beach running north-south.
The last activity was Saturday lunch at Murray’s Brewery, Bob’s Farm with social activities after lunch.
